Finding a clean toilet for women is a big hassle in Mumbai. In the wake of this, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has built a toilet dedicated only to women at Mumbai Central.

'Right to Pee' organisation was hell-bent to get a women’s toilet and they succeeded.

A first-of-its-kind women’s toilet has come up opposite Mumbai Central railway station in Tulsiwadi area. Prior to this, the civic body carried out a survey after which they decided to come up with this toilet.

Accordingly, the BMC zeroed in D/Ward where toilet for women was built. The toilet is ready and the inauguration of the same will be held on February 2, 2018, with hands of Yuva Sena president Aaditya Thackeray and Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar.

In Mumbai, there are 1200 public toilets which are for both males and females. But there was no toilet dedicated to women. The BMC commissioner Ajoy Mehta has granted permission to build 10 such toilets. These 10 toilets will have eight types of western and two Indian-style toilets.

Apart from this, there will be a centre for babies as well where mothers will get to change the diapers. Along with this, there will be sanitary napkin vending machine and disposable machines as well, said assistant commissioner Vishwas Mote of D/Ward. These toilets are built in association with Right to Pee organisation.
