Manohar Parrikar demise: IIT Bombay to pay homage to its alumni

Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay (IIT-B) on Monday will pay homage to its alumni, Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Goa Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar who died on Sunday after a prolonged illness

IIT Bombay spokesperson informed that the meeting will be held at PC Saxena Auditorium around 5:00 in the evening. Earlier in 2017, Parrikar addressed the 55th Convocation at his alma mater asked the graduates to take jobs in social and development sectors. 

After the demise of the 63-year-old senior leader, IIT Bombay issued a condolence message which read, “He (Parrikar) was an excellent student of the institute and was involved with many initiatives taken by IIT Bombay. He also played an important role in establishing IIT Goa.”

Earlier in 2014, Parrikar was honoured for his contribution to the development of the country at IIT Bombay’s alumni day. Parrikar graduated from IIT Bombay in Metal Engineering in 1976.
