Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC) has decided to relinquish penalties imposed for illegal construction. The penalties were imposed on the house owners who had to pay the same along with their property tax. However, the owners with the illegal construction of 600 square feet or less will be eligible for this exemption.

Earlier in 2015, after the government decision, VVMC passed the resolution regarding the same last week. VVMC said that they were following government’s order regarding the waiver. The fines which were imposed on the owners of illegal construction have been waived off. The owners will only pay the property tax from now on.

The VVMC officials informed that the civic body was delayed to act on the government’s order because it was occupied with collecting the statistics for legal and illegal constructions in the area. However, now, it has the list of the same in Nalasopara, Virar, and  Vasai.
