The over 125-year-old bridge at Prabhadevi will be closed to traffic from September 12, Friday night. After the bridge is closed, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) will demolish the bridge and build a two-level bridge in its place.
A minimum of 20 months is expected to be required to complete the demolition and construction of the new double-level bridge and put it into service. Therefore, while closing the Prabhadevi Bridge, traffic passing through this bridge has been diverted elsewhere and many changes have been made to traffic.
