Good news for ration card holders! Now, people will be able to buy toor dal (Pigeon Pea) worth ₹35 which earlier was available at ₹55. The state government decided the price as per the current market rates.

The state government had bought toor dal from the farmers in the Kharif season 2016-17 under the minimum support price scheme. As the government purchased toor dal in bulk, it lies unattended in godowns. In order to clear the remaining toor dal, the state decided to sell it at affordable rates.

Considering the farmers’ financial interests, and to provide toor dal with high nutritional value, the Food and Civil Supplies Department decided to slash the rates by ₹20.

The state government believes that farmers who will be selling the toor dal and end-consumer who will buy, all will be benefitted.
