The Ulhasnagar Autorickshaw Drivers' Union has announced a protest on August 11, demanding immediate repairs to pothole-ridden roads across the city. The union said the poor condition of roads has become a major safety concern for both drivers and commuters.
According to union members, roads damaged during the monsoon have led to frequent vehicle breakdowns, increased repair expenses, and a higher risk of accidents. They alleged that despite repeated representations, the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation has failed to undertake timely road repairs.
The union said autorickshaw drivers are among the worst affected, as they travel on these roads throughout the day and are forced to bear the financial burden of vehicle damage caused by potholes.
Warning of a stronger agitation if their demands are ignored, the union has urged the civic administration to begin repair work immediately. The August 11 protest is aimed at drawing attention to the deteriorating road infrastructure and pressing the authorities to take urgent corrective measures.
