Milind Rege re-appointed as Mumbai Chief Cricket selector

On May 9, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) announced its selection committees for all age groups. MCA appointed former off-spinner Milind Rege as the chief of its senior selection committee for the 2019- 2020 season.

Accordingly, in order to amalgamate the senior and U-19 team, the Cricket Improvement Committee (CIC) headed by former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar, appointed Sanjay Patil as U-19 chairman of selectors even though Patil is in the newly-appointed senior selection panel headed by Milind Rege.

Rege, who has previously served as Mumbai’s chief selector, will now head the four-member selection panel. The four-member committee comprises of Guru Gupte, Shridhar Mandale and Sanjay Patil.

The 70-year-old Rege, throughout his career, has played 52 First Class matches for Mumbai and has bagged 126 wickets. Along with this, Kalpana Murkar, daughter of noted coach Ramakant Achrekar, was appointed the chairperson of the Under-19 and Under-16 Girls Selection Committee.
