Sachin Tendulkar pens an emotional note on coach Ramakant Achrekar's death anniversary

On January 2, 2019, the coach and trainer of Mumbai's finest batsmen, Ramakant Achrekar had breathed his last. The coach of various cricketers such as Sachin Tendulkar, Vinod Kambli, Ajit Agarkar, Pravin Amre, passed away in Mumbai, aged 87. On his first death anniversary today, former Indian batsman and cricket legend, Sachin Tendulkar expressed himself on social media.

Tendulkar wrote on Twitter and Facebook,

You will continue to remain in our hearts, Achrekar Sir!"

Achrekar was born in 1932 and was the major reason why Sachin Tendulkar went on to become the finest batsman India has ever produced. He would carry Tendulkar on his scooter and take him to various cricket tournaments across Mumbai. Tendulkar, who amassed 34,357 runs, the most by any batsman, owed his cricketing success to his Achrekar guruji

The Mumbai coach would teach young cricketers at Mumbai's Shivaji Park in Dadar and many of his students went on to represent India. Achrekar was awarded the Dronacharya Award by the Indian government for his immense contribution towards the game.

Along with Tendulkar, his childhood friend and former cricketer, Vinod Kambli, who was also Achrkar's student, paid his tribute to his 'Achrekar Sir',
