The player auction for the 14th season of the Indian Premier League turned out some big surprises, while also reaffirming the emergence of Indian and international uncapped players on the biggest domestic cricket tournament in the world.
Mumbai Indians, the defending champions going into this year’s IPL, had to replace the likes of Lasith Malinga in their squad, while also strengthening the spin bowling department a little. While Arjun Tendulkar took all the attention after the auction was concluded, the Paltan also made some exciting buys in the fast bowling department.
After releasing Aussie pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile prior to the auctions, Mumbai picked him up following a minor bidding war with other franchises, eventually getting him back in the team for 5 crores.
Kiwi pacer Adam Milne makes his return to Mumbai Indians after making his debut for the team in 2018. MI also managed to pick up Piyush Chawla, the senior Indian leg spinner who played for Chennai Super Kings in the last season.
