14-year-old girl jumps to death from the 8th floor in Kandivali

On Thursday evening, a 14-year old girl committed suicide by jumping from the 8th floor of a building in Thakur Village, Kandivali (E). The whole incident was captured on a phone.

The deceased has been identified as Harshika Mayavanti, a resident of Gardenia building in Thakur Village. She is survived by her parents, Arshika and Virendra Mayavanti and a 10-year-old younger sister.

What’s the story?

According to police sources, on Thursday, around 6:30 pm, the girl jumped from Orchid Tower’s 8th floor, which is adjacent to the building where she resided. The deceased was a Class IX student studying in Kandivali’s Gundecha Education Institute.

The reason behind the suicide is still unknown as police found no suicide note.

Police conducting an investigation

Samatanagar police station conducted the investigation and sent the dead body for a post-mortem to Bhagwati hospital. The investigation is underway and an accidental death report has been registered.
