A 78-year-old woman was killed in Bandra East after she disapproved of a man urinating in public. Police said she was strangled and hit with a brick during the confrontation. A 44-year-old man from Thane has been arrested in the case.

The victim was identified as Saubhagyamma Kathimyunar and lived in Dharavi. The incident took place late on April 26 near an RNA building in Bandra East. According to police, the argument began when she saw the man urinating by the roadside and confronted him.

On April 27, morning walkers and locals found her lying on a pavement in a pool of blood. She was rushed to Sion Hospital. Doctors declared her dead before admission. A post-mortem report later confirmed that she died due to strangulation and head injuries caused by a hard object.

Police registered a murder case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita after the report. They also began checking CCTV footage from the area. Investigators found a man seen at the area where the incident happened. Using this lead, they tracked the suspect to Thane.

The accused has been identified as Bhanudas Vitthal Kamble, 44. He was taken into custody by the Kherwadi police. During investigation, police found that Kamble had travelled to Bandra for an event. He stopped by the roadside to urinate. The victim scolded him for this, which led to an argument.

Police said Kamble then took a brick and hit her. She was still yelling as he strangled her and fled the spot. The police are investigating the case under relevant sections of the BNS.
