Mumbai: 60-year-old woman loses INR 8.60 lakh to cyber ​​fraud

In the name of investment in the stock market, an elderly woman in Andheri was cheated of INR 8.60 lakh. In this case, the Oshiwara police have registered a case under the Prevention of Information Technology Act along with fraud.

A 60-year-old woman lives in the Lokhandwala area of Andheri and owns an educational institute. In February, the woman saw an advertisement on the media about how to maximise profits by investing in the stock market. After opening that link, she was added to a WhatsApp group. In the group, a person named Sarvesh Srivastava was sending some notes to them, coaching them on investing in the stock market.

It was he who had convinced the woman to invest in shares and assured her of maximum returns. Falling for this bait, the woman invested some amount in various shares on his request. She seemed to be reaping the benefits after this investment. But she could not withdraw this amount. The woman was asked to invest more money to withdraw the amount.

The woman realised that she was cheated. But by that time the woman had deposited eight lakh 60 thousand rupees in the bank account mentioned by the accused. In this matter, the woman lodged a complaint with the Oshiwara police. The police are investigating the matter further.
