Mumbai: An accused attempts suicide at the airport

A case has been registered based on the complaint of the immigration officer at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. This incident took place on June 3. A woman officer here stopped Mohammad Afrid, a passenger who had arrived in Mumbai from Dubai, around 10 am. Mohammad Afrid is the accused in a molestation case registered at Siddapura police station in Karnataka and a lookout notice has been issued against him by the Superintendent of Police of Kodagu district.

As the investigation revealed that Mohammad Afrid was the same accused, the complainants made him sit in the interrogation room of the immigration wing in-charge. At around 11:30 am Mohammad Afrid cut his left wrist vein with a nearby sharp object while proceedings were underway to hand him over to the Sahar police. The injured Mohammad Afrid was given first aid and immediately admitted to Cooper Hospital for further treatment.

After being treated in the Intensive Care Unit of Cooper Hospital, the complainants rushed to the Sahar Police and lodged a complaint. A case has been registered against Afrid in this matter.
