Crawford Market - The officials of Thane forest division and the members of Animal Welfare Society arrested three persons for allegedly attempting to sell the rare species of turtles in Crawford Market area on Thursday. Acting on a tip-off given by Animal Welfare Society secretary Sunish Kunj, the concerned authorities arrested Mikhail Khan (26), Sandip More (30) and Mohammed Faiyaz and seized Star turtles and Pont turtles from them along with other Indian birds. These animals were to be sold at the cost of Rs 1.60 lakh.
