Body of Unidentified Woman Aged 55-60 Recovered from Thane Lake, Police Launch Investigation

The body of an unidentified woman, believed to be between 55 and 60 years old, was recovered from Ambe-Ghosale Lake near Castle Mill Circle in Thane West on Monday morning, August 3.

According to officials, the Thane Municipal Corporation's Disaster Management Cell received an alert at around 9:25 am after a woman's body was spotted floating in the lake on Prabhakar Hegde Marg, near Late Meenatai Thackeray Chowk.

A coordinated rescue operation was immediately launched involving personnel from the Rabodi Police Station, the Thane Fire Brigade, and the Disaster Management Cell. Firefighters and disaster response teams successfully retrieved the body from the water before handing it over to the police.

The deceased was later shifted to the District Civil Hospital in Thane for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and complete the required legal formalities.

Rabodi Police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) and begun an investigation to establish the woman's identity and the circumstances surrounding her death. Officials said efforts are underway to trace her relatives while investigators continue to examine all possible angles.

Police have not indicated any evidence of foul play at this stage. The findings of the post-mortem examination are expected to provide further clarity as the investigation continues.
