The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has carried out searches at multiple locations in Mumbai in connection with an alleged bank fraud case involving companies of the Anil Ambani-led Reliance ADA Group. The raids were conducted at around 17 premises, including residential and office locations linked to the group and its associated entities.
According to officials, the searches were part of an ongoing investigation into alleged fraudulent loan activities involving public sector banks and financial institutions. The action was taken based on search warrants issued by a special CBI court in Mumbai. During the operation, investigators reportedly recovered documents and other material believed to be relevant to the case.
The case is linked to allegations of large-scale financial irregularities, including diversion and misuse of bank funds by group companies such as Reliance Telecom, Reliance Commercial Finance, and Reliance Home Finance. The total alleged loss under investigation runs into thousands of crores of rupees, and the probe is still continuing.
Background of the Investigation
The CBI has been investigating multiple cases against Reliance ADA Group firms based on complaints from banks and financial institutions. These cases involve allegations of loan fraud, fund diversion, and misuse of credit facilities. Authorities say intermediary companies were also used in routing funds, and further investigation is underway to trace the money trail and identify all responsible parties.
The latest raids are part of a broader crackdown on suspected financial irregularities involving major corporate borrowers, with investigative agencies intensifying scrutiny of high-value loan accounts in recent years.
