29-year-old coronavirus patient commits suicide at Nair Hospital

The increasing number of coronavirus cases in the city has also seen an increase in the number of mental health cases. The government is taking the best steps possible to handle the situation and with the available treatment options, healthcare officials are trying to treat as many cases as possible.

But a recent update, as of April 15, 2020, states that a 29-year-old woman who tested positive for COVID-19 committed suicide at Mumbai's BL Nair Hospital. 

The resident of Worli's Jijamata Nagar was admitted at the hospital for the treatment. Agripada police received the information at 4 am on Wednesday and the reported stated that she was found hanging in the bathroom of the same ward (no. 24). The deceased was also suffering from Ashtma and was admitted after some complications were observed.

With an aim to address issues related to mental health and help the ones in need, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) along with Power launched a helpline number. The toll-free helpline number of BMC-Mpower 1on1 - 1800-120-820050 - is available 24x7 for all the citizens of Mumbai.
