The proceedings on Kulbhushan Jadhav's case was held in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in Hague, Netherland on July 17. Senior Advocate Harish Salve had moved to ICJ in May 2017 for 'egregious violation' of the provisions of the Vienna Convention by Pakistan for repeatedly denying India's consular access to Jadhav.

Pakistan had claimed that Jadhav was arrested from Balochistan in March 2016 whereas the Indian counterparts stated that he was kidnapped from Iran after retiring from Navy. In the proceedings of July 17, the ICJ suspended Kulbhushan Jadhav's death sentence and ordered Pakistan to conduct a fair trial. Pakistan was found guilty for not granting consular access to Jadhav and violating the Vienna Convention and further said that India will have access to him.
