While the incident of death of three-year-old, Arihant Parvez, Tamboli who fell into a drain in Chembur’s Cheetah camp shocked everyone in the city, another child died by drowning in a groundwater tank for toilets. Kunal Bagul (9) was the resident of Mahatma Phule Nagar, Kalwa.

According to Kalwa police station, Kunal Bagul had arrived at a public toilet near his house at Mahatma Phule Nagar area around noon. At that time, Kunal used to draw water from the groundwater tank. However, he fell into the tank and died after drowning in the water but nobody knew when Kunal fell into the tank. It was when Sheshrao Vishwanath Kamble, who was cleaning the area, went to the water to clean the partials and found that his body was in the water.

The hole in the water tank was only one and a half feet deep and people used to draw water from it for public toilets in the Mahatma Phule Nagar area. However, the incident raises a lot of questions regarding the safety of children near the water tanks.
