The Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) claims that they have prevented 118 youngsters from joining the militant Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) organisation. Of 118 youngsters, 20 youngsters belong to Mumbai.

Usually, people related to the ISIS organisation try and brainwash youngsters of the minority community by making them understand that Indians are against Muslims and offer them to join ISIS. The same thing was happening in Maharashtra where youngsters were getting calls from an unknown number and were also approached through social networking websites to join the terrorist organisation.

The Maharashtra ATS came to know about such youngsters who were planning to join ISIS. They were immediately taken in by the ATS officials, who then admitted that they were planning to do the same. Later, they were counselled and were prevented to join ISIS. Apart from counselling, the ATS closed off 500 such ISIS centres running in Maharashtra

As per the ATS officials, there are fewer chances that youngsters who are prevented from joining ISIS, stay sober. At this stage, ATS officials feel that the police should intervene and counsel such youngsters.
