Mumbai: Bomb Threat Suspect Arrested Within 24 Hours

The Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested a man from Noida, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly issuing a bomb threat to the city. The investigation team also recovered the mobile phone and SIM card used in the crime.

Mumbai Police went on high alert after a detailed bomb threat was sent to the city’s traffic police via its official WhatsApp number today, on September 5.

It also claimed that 34 “human bombs” carrying “400 kg of RDX” have been planted in 34 vehicles for a blast that will “shake the entire city”, killing up to one crore people.

The police informed that the person making the threat was a member of the Lashkar-e-Jihadi organization. The sender, identifying himself as a member of a Pakistan-based jihadi group, invoked the name “Lashkar-e-Jihadi” and alleged that 14 Pakistani terrorists had already infiltrated Mumbai. 

Following the terror warning, security deployment was intensified across the city. The threat was investigated from all angles and that the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) were informed.
