Central Railway busts touts, seizes e-tickets worth INR 1.15 lakh

Central Railway (CR) launched a massive drive against unauthorised agents who booked tickets online and sold them in bulk using an illegal software and involving in black-marketing across its five divisions.

The joint raids were conducted by the teams of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and CR's Commercial and Vigilance Department and seized illegally bought tickets. Along with seizing, they also arrested Sandip Sharma and Shivkumar Gupta who booked tickets by using their personal user IDs and then sold for a premium.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that the accused used an illegal software ‘NEO’ to book 42 e-tickets using 41 fake personal IDs which were worth INR 1.15 lakh. The duo was booked under section 143 (unauthorised carrying on of the business of procuring and supplying of railway tickets) of the Railways Act.
