A resident doctor from Mumbai’s Grant Medical College and Sir J. J. Group of Hospitals allegedly died by suicide, triggering shock and concern within the medical fraternity. The deceased doctor has been identified as Abhaysinh More. Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are examining the circumstances that led to the death. 

According to officials, the incident has once again highlighted growing concerns over mental stress, excessive workload and working conditions faced by resident doctors in government hospitals. Colleagues and medical associations have demanded a detailed inquiry into the case. 

Doctors’ groups said resident medicos often work long shifts under intense pressure while balancing academic responsibilities and emergency duties. Medical associations have repeatedly raised concerns about burnout, toxic work environments and lack of adequate mental health support in teaching hospitals. 

Police officials said statements of colleagues and hospital staff are being recorded as part of the investigation. Further details are awaited pending official findings.
