Investigative agencies have been able to find new leads in the Narendra Dabholkar Murder case after arresting the main shooters and others involved in the same.
According to sources, Sharad Kalaskar, prime accused in the case, couldn’t identify Dr Dabholkar while he went to assassinate him. However, a person greeted Dabholkar by his name and Kalaskar, then, recognised his target and shot him dead.
On the day Dabholkar was murdered, Kalaskar was keeping track of his movements in Pune while Sachin Andhure, another main accused in the case, came all the way from Aurangabad. To avoid any suspicion, both the accused wore sports tracksuit and planned the murder as Andhure rode on a motorbike and Kalaskar accompanied him, both of them had pistols.
Both of them pulled the trigger on August 20, 2013, when Dabholkar reached Maharishi Shinde bridge near the Omkareshwar temple in Pune. After this, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) have been jointly investigating the case.
