A shocking incident of a mother leaving her 15-day-old baby in a local train and absconding has come to light. The shocking incident took place at around 1 pm on Tuesday at Seawoods station on the Harbour Railway Line.
A woman aged between 30 and 35 abandoned her 15-day-old baby and ran away while travelling in the CSMT-Panvel local train.
The woman left the child without getting off at Seawood railway station, leaving two young women.
According to information received, Divya Naidu (19 years), a resident of Juinagar, and her friend Bhumika Mane were going home from Chembur. The woman boarded a local train at Sanpada railway station.
Saying that she wanted to get down at Seawoods station, the woman requested two young women to help her get down as she had a baby and luggage. The two of them got down at Seawoods station to help the woman instead of getting down at Juinagar.
While getting off at Seawood, the woman handed the baby over to the young women. The two girls got off the local train with the woman's baby, but the woman ran away without getting off the local train.
At first glance, the young women assumed that the woman might not have been able to get off because she had too much luggage. When the woman did not return despite waiting for a long time, they went home with the baby and took care of him, and later filed a complaint with the Vashi Railway Police.

However, the police have said that the search operation is facing difficulties as CCTV cameras in the city are not operational. The police have appealed to anyone with information about the baby's mother to contact the Vashi Railway Police Station.
