The need for speed took its toll on another vehicle in the city last night.
A car, zipping along at a speed of around 100 kmph on the Western Express Highway, hit a pole in Vile Parle and then rammed into the divider.
Police say the driver must have lost control over the vehicle and crashed into the pole. The collision was so strong that the iron pole broke.
The driver, critically injured, was rushed to the V N Desai Hospital in Santacruz.
