The High Court has accepted actress Rhea Chakraborty's plea to relax her passport bail conditions in the drug case related to the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Also, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) was ordered to permanently return Rhea's passport.

Other accused in the case have also received similar relief. Chakraborty has cooperated with the investigating agency from time to time during the trial. She returned to India after every permitted foreign tour. A single bench of Justice Neela Gokhale observed that she had never violated the bail conditions while passing the above order. The single bench also observed that it was inappropriate to raise doubts about her availability during the hearing of the case. The petition was also approved on the conditions of being present on all trial dates, providing the government prosecutors with a complete travel itinerary, hotel address, and flight details at least four days in advance, and providing a contact number before traveling abroad.

Earlier, Rhea had to travel abroad frequently for professional work, i.e. filming. But during each trip, she had to apply. As a result, there are always delays in reaching the workplace, Rhea claimed in the petition. She also demanded that Riya comply with all the bail conditions and that her passport be returned to her. The NCB had opposed Rhea's petition, claiming that since she is a celebrity, she cannot get special treatment, and the possibility of her becoming a fugitive cannot be ruled out.
