A minor has been detained by the Government Railway Police (GRP) in connection with the death of a young man at Thane Railway Station, where the victim was found injured on or near the railway tracks after a violent confrontation.
According to preliminary information, the incident is believed to have started as a dispute between the victim and the accused at the station premises. The argument reportedly escalated quickly, resulting in a physical altercation that turned fatal. The exact trigger for the conflict is still under investigation.
Police said the victim sustained serious injuries during the clash and was later found dead near the tracks. Investigators are also examining whether the body was pushed onto the tracks after the assault or if the victim fell during the incident.
The GRP has registered a case of murder and detained the minor accused for questioning. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the station, collecting forensic evidence, and recording statements from witnesses and railway staff present at the time of the incident.
Officials added that investigators are exploring all angles, including whether the act was spontaneous due to a sudden argument or involved prior intent. The motive behind the attack is yet to be clearly established.
