On Monday, June 29, 2020, Mumbai police received a threat call regarding blowing up Taj Mahal hotel with bombs. Following this, officials have strengthened the security outside the Taj hotels in Colaba and Bandra.
The call was received from Karachi, Pakistan, late night on Monday, and the police confirmed the same. It is said that the caller mentioned about blowing up the hotels with bombs. This has now put the police officials on alert across some areas in the city.
Mumbai, even today, is mourning in the 26/11 attacks from 2008 when 10 Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists attacked the city of Mumbai and brought it to a standstill. The group of men entered Mumbai and carried a series of shootings and bombings, killing 166 people and leaving more than 300 injured for the attack.
Attacks were also reported at other landmarks in Mumbai like the Nariman House, Leopold Cafe, Cama Hospital, Oberoi Trident and the CST railway station. Police are currently investigating the matter and have launched an operation to identify the caller.
