In a gruesome incident, some unidentified persons threw stones at the suburban local train at Thane injuring three passengers, railway officials said on Wednesday, November 8.

As per officials, the incident took place on Tuesday, November 7, at around 8 pm near Kalwa. The injured persons were immediately taken to a hospital for treatment.

A case was registered against the unidentified culprits under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and efforts were on to nab them, the police added.

A member of the railway advisory committee later met a senior railway police official here and demanded increased surveillance as well as action against the culprits.

This incident brings back to light about the stone-throwing instances that took place few years ago especially at women’s compartment along the busy Thane-Kalyan stretch.
