Maharastra Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) arrested Sachin Prakarao Andhure, an Aurangabad resident, in connection with the Narendra Dabholkar murder case. Andhure was picked up from Pune and later, he was sent to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) custody till August 26.
Earlier in 2013, Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti chief and social activist Dr Narendra Dabholkar was shot dead in Pune by an unknown assailant. In connection to this, CBI had arrested Hindu Janajagruti Samiti member Dr Virendra Tawde in June 2016 along with Vinay Pawar and Sarang Akolkar saying that they were the shooters.
However, recently, ATS arrested Vaibhav Raut along with Sharad Kalasar and Sudhanwa Sudhir Gondhalekar in Nalasopara for possessing explosives.
ATS informed that during the interrogation, Kalasar confessed to being a part of Dabholkar’s murder and named Andhure as the main shooter. The accused arrested by ATS, earlier this week, are related to Sanatan Sanstha.
With this development in the Dabholkar case, CBI is now investigating the murder of Marathi author Govind Pansare, M.M. Kalburgi, and Journalist Gauri Lankesh.
