Bandra police seize Rs 2 crore in scrapped notes

Police seized currency of rupees two crore in demonetised notes from a car in Kherwadi in Bandra and have arrested four people in this connection.

Acting on a tip-off, the police stopped a car, and while checking seized old notes amounting to Rs 2 crore. The seized notes were in denominations of 500 and 100, Zone 8, Deputy Commissioner Virendra Mishra said.

The four persons, all employees of a private finance company in suburban Andheri, were arrested following the seizure, the DCP said.

The four wanted to exchange the old currency notes with new ones, Mishra said.
