The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET) Cell on Monday evening declared the results of the first-session entrance examination for the Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) group, conducted for admissions to engineering and other technology-related courses. A total of 26 students secured a perfect 100 percentile score, including 22 boys and four girls.

Among the top scorers, 24 students are from Maharashtra, while two students belong to other states. The results have been made available through individual student login portals. The Common Admission Process (CAP) for admissions to engineering and allied courses is expected to commence shortly.

The first-session PCM CET examination was conducted in 16 sessions between April 11 and April 20. A total of 4,79,332 candidates registered for the examination, out of which 4,54,069 students appeared.

The candidates included 2,73,135 male students, 1,80,916 female students, and 18 transgender candidates. Of the total examinees, 4,42,261 were from Maharashtra, while 11,808 candidates were from outside the state. The computer-based examination was conducted at 186 centres across 36 districts of Maharashtra. This year, no examination centres were set up outside the state.

With the introduction of the two-attempt system for the first time this year, students are now eagerly awaiting the results of the second session. For admissions, the higher percentile obtained across both attempts will be considered. Since the second-session results are yet to be announced, experts believe that the final merit rankings could witness significant changes.

Students who were unable to achieve their desired scores in the first attempt are expected to benefit from their performance in the second examination, potentially improving their admission prospects.
