Maharashtra Extends RTE 2026 Admission Deadline in Thane District

The deadline for RTE (Right to Education) 2026–27 admissions in Thane district has been extended to March 18, 2026, giving parents more time to apply for free seats in private schools.

Under the RTE Act 2009, 25% of seats in private unaided schools are reserved for children from economically weaker and disadvantaged backgrounds. The online application process began on February 17, 2026, and the original deadline was 10 March 2026.

District education officials have urged parents to take advantage of the extension and submit applications online via the Maharashtra RTE portal at student.maharashtra.gov.in/adm_portal. Schools have also been instructed to widely share this information to ensure all eligible students can apply.

This extension follows directives from authorities to ensure that no eligible child misses the opportunity for admission under the RTE scheme.
