Mumbai University announces fee hike for 8 courses after 17 years - Check revised cost here

Mumbai University (MU) recently hiked the fees for various courses offered by its departments and affiliated colleges before admissions resume for the upcoming academic year. This revision comes after a gap of 17 years since the last hike in 2008.

According to the university, the fee hike proposal had been pending for years due to the complexity of the decision. The final resolution was passed in a meeting of the Academic Council last year, and colleges were notified via circulars before the academic year 2025-26 admission process began.

The traditional and aided courses have witnessed marginal fee hikes:

  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) - INR 4,501 from INR 3,970
  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) - INR 5,701 from INR 5,170
  • Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) - INR 4,501 from INR 3,970
However, a few other popular courses, particularly those from the category of professional courses, have seen more than a marginal fee hike.

  • Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) fee is increased to INR 20,451 from INR 12,030
  • Bachelor of Accounting and Finance (BAF) fee is raised to INR 20,251 from INR 12,430.
  • BAMMC fee is raised to INR 20,351 from INR 12,100
  • BBI fee is raised to INR 21,751 from INR 13,450
  • BScIT fee is raised to INR 25,851 from INR 17,290
  • International students admitted to Mumbai University will be charged five times.

While there is no outcry over fee hikes yet, colleges in the city, on the other hand, have urged that varsity should not wait so long to revise fees.
