Mumbai University's Institute of Open and Distance Learning (IDOL) has been grappled with many issues. From obsolete curriculum to student's issues, here are some of the issues faced by IDOL:
1. In a recent meeting which was held on November 5, Mumbai University's senate member Vaibhav Thorat had raised concerns over the issue of Mumbai University's laxity over IDOL. The status of IDOL has been deteriorating continuously and MU is not taking up any concrete steps for the same.
2. The number of enrollments in IDOL has decreased drastically. Two years ago, there were 81,000 admissions which have now been reduced TO 67,000.
3. The main reason for the same is that the curriculum has not been updated since 2005.

4. Students have demanded a revamp in the curriculum of MBA, Law, Psychology and Journalism which still hasn't been met.
5. There have been several issues related to examinations as well. Delay in the declaration of the result, issues in revaluation etc.
6. IDOL still hasn't got University Grants Commission (UGC) recognition in spite of being one of the oldest Universities in the country. UGC demands that there should be at least three full-time professors for a subject whereas IDOL just has 6 for the entire course.
7. Moreover, a full-time Director has still not been appointed to resolve all these issues.
