No APAAR ID, No Hall Ticket: Mumbai University Sets New Rule For Students

The University of Mumbai has made the APAAR ID mandatory for students appearing for its 2026 examinations. Students who have not completed the APAAR ID process will not be able to get their exam hall tickets. The rule applies to undergraduate and postgraduate students across Mumbai University and its affiliated colleges.

The university has also arranged a special Aadhaar Suvidha Camp to help students facing problems with the registration process. The camp will be held on August 19 and 20, 2026, at the Kalina Campus. Students can visit the camp between 10 am and 4 pm to resolve issues linked to their Aadhaar and academic records.

This comes after students and colleges faced delays in completing APAAR-related formalities. Students who have not yet generated their APAAR ID have been asked to complete the process at the earliest.

Affiliated colleges have also been asked to identify students whose APAAR registration is still pending. They will have to inform such students about the requirement and make sure that they complete the process without waiting until the last moment.

APAAR stands for Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry. It is a digital academic identity introduced under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The system is designed to create a single digital record for a student's academic journey. It can link information such as qualifications, marks and academic credits to the student's digital profile.

The system is also connected to the Academic Bank of Credits, or ABC. The ABC system allows academic credits to be stored digitally and can support their transfer between institutions.

The University Grants Commission has mandated the use of ABC and APAAR IDs as part of the education reforms under NEP 2020. In May, the results of more than 8,500 third-year BCom students were held up after their colleges failed to submit the required ABC and APAAR information.
