University of Mumbai has postponed the LLM CET 2026 examination after students objected to the entrance test date clashing with the All India Bar Examination (AIBE 21). The university has also extended the application deadline for the entrance exam, giving aspirants additional time to register.

The LLM CET, conducted for admission to the university’s two-year postgraduate law programme, was originally scheduled for June 7, 2026. However, several law students pointed out that the examination date coincided with AIBE 21, a mandatory certification exam conducted for law graduates seeking to practice in courts across India.

Students Raised Concerns About Appearing for Both Exams

Students and legal education groups argued that holding both examinations on the same day would create serious difficulties for candidates preparing for higher studies as well as professional certification. Many students submitted representations to the university administration requesting an immediate revision of the schedule.

According to students, both exams are academically significant and require separate preparation. They warned that the overlap could force candidates to choose between pursuing postgraduate education and qualifying for legal practice.

University Extends Application Deadline

After reviewing the complaints and growing pressure from students, Mumbai University decided to postpone the LLM CET 2026 examination. Officials also announced an extension of the registration deadline to ensure that students affected by the earlier schedule receive adequate time to apply.

The university is expected to release a revised examination timetable and updated admission schedule through its official admission portal in the coming days.
