Students of Mumbai University (MU) who could not get photocopies of their answer sheets heaved a sigh of relief when the MU board of examination passed a resolution to give average marks.
This came in after four law students filed a petition in Bombay High Court wherein they mentioned they did not receive photocopies of their answer sheets of the subjects in which they had failed. The court then disposed of the petitions and the students were then passed.
A division bench of justices B. R. Gavai and B. P. Colabawalla were hearing writ petitions filed by final year students of the law course. The petitioner sought the university to hand over the photocopies of answer sheets of one of the four subjects in which they had failed and if MU fails to provide photocopies then they should give average marks and pass them.
Three final-year-law students, Aditya Shikre, Bhalothiya Yogita and Moinuddin Chowdhary failed in their exams. When they asked for the photocopies, MU said that their answer sheets went missing. Later, these students filed a petition and the HC questioned the university about missing answer sheets but the university failed to give the reason. After which, the HC asked the university to come up with a solution.
