Mahatma Gandhi inspires Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra for his next film
Eminent Bollywood director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra has finally spoken about his next directorial venture "Mere Pyare Prime Minister" and says that the concept idea comes from Mahatma Gandhi, as he is believed to be the warrior on sanitation issues.
Talking about the same at the RISE Summit, Mehra confirmed that the film is based on the issue of sanitation.
Further, he added by saying, "When it comes to cinema, it is entertainment first as that's what brings the people in. The purpose has to be built into the cinema, along with the entertainment. My next film 'Mere Pyare Prime Minister' is inspired by Mahatma Gandhi. Shot in Mumbai, our set is called Gandhinagar. Few people know that Mahatma Gandhi was a warrior on sanitation issues."
It is also being reported that Mehra has been working on tackling this issue in association with Yuva Unstoppable NGO, on building toilets in slums and municipal schools.
