Filmmaker Nishikant Kamat Critical due to liver-related ailment

Hindi and Marathi filmmaker Nishikant Kamat has reportedly been hospitalized. As per reports, his health suddenly deteriorated due to severe liver disease. It is said that Kamat's condition is critical and he has been undergoing treatment at a hospital in Hyderabad. 

Kamat made his film debut through the Marathi film 'Dombivali Fast'. The film earned critical acclaims and was an instant hit. He went on to direct the Hindi film 'Mumbai Meri Jaan', which was loosely based on the 2006 Mumbai train bomb blasts. Kamat gained more recognition in the Bollywood industry after directing  mainstream films like Drishyam, Force and Rocky Handsome.

The director even experimented with acting when he played a villain opposite John Abraham in Rocky Handsome, in Bhavesh Joshi Superhero starring Harshvardhan Kapoor and in the Marathi film Saatchya Aat Gharat. Kamat has also director the blocker buster Marathi movie Lal Bhaari starring Riteish Deshmukh as the lead. 

According to media reports, Kamat was currently working on his upcoming film Darbar before being hospitalized. The film is reportedly set to release in 2022.

Meanwhile, on August 11, 2020, news about Sanjay Dutt being diagnosed with Liver Cancer was also published in the media reports. Dutt was admitted at Lilavati Hospital on August 8, and discharged on August 10, 2020. He will continue his treatment in the US.
