The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for several districts in Vidarbha and Marathwada, warning of rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and possible hailstorms over the next two days.
According to weather officials, pre-monsoon activity triggered by western disturbances and moisture-laden winds is expected to impact multiple parts of Maharashtra. Districts including Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Wardha, and Yavatmal are likely to witness thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds and hail.
Several areas in Marathwada and central Maharashtra are also expected to receive light to moderate rainfall along with gusty winds and lightning activity.
The IMD said the weather change could bring temporary relief from the intense heat currently affecting many parts of the state, with temperatures expected to dip slightly in some regions.
Residents have been advised to remain cautious during thunderstorms, while farmers have been urged to take preventive measures to protect crops from hail and strong winds.
Meanwhile, Mumbai, Thane, and parts of the Konkan region are expected to continue experiencing hot and humid weather conditions over the next few days.
