IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Mumbai as Temperature May Touch 40°C

Mumbai is likely to witness intense heat over the next few days, with temperatures expected to touch 40 degrees Celsius.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heat conditions in Mumbai and nearby regions, warning citizens to take precautions against the rising temperatures. At the same time, some parts of Maharashtra are expected to receive rainfall.

According to the IMD forecast, hot and humid weather conditions are expected to continue in Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Raigad districts. The heatwave-like conditions may increase the risk of dehydration and heatstroke, prompting authorities to advise people to avoid direct sunlight during afternoon hours.

While Mumbai is likely to remain largely hot and humid, several districts in Maharashtra may experience thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds, and light to moderate rainfall over the coming days. The IMD has predicted changing weather conditions in parts of western Maharashtra and the Konkan region.

The weather department has appealed to citizens to stay hydrated, avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and remain alert for sudden weather changes, especially in areas where thunderstorms and rain have been forecast.
