Mumbai: Leopard Attack in Borivali Leaves Father and Son Injured

A father and son were attacked by a leopard near Borivali's Sanjay Gandhi National Park on Saturday, March 14 leaving the duo injured. The incident occurred in a settlement close to the forest when a man named Chandu Kharpade went to a nearby well to fetch water early in the day. Suddenly, a leopard emerged and attacked him.

Hearing his father’s cries for help, his 24-year-old son Umesh rushed to the spot to rescue him, but the animal also attacked him during the attempt. Both sustained injuries in the attack and were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, where they later received medical care and were discharged.

Following the incident, forest officials urged residents living near the national park to remain alert, avoid venturing alone into forested areas, and maintain proper waste management so that wild animals like leopards are not drawn toward human settlements.
