Mumbai: Light To Moderate Rains Predicted for August 25

The monsoon might affect this year's Ganesh Chaturthi. Heavy rain has started in Mumbai since Monday morning. Although the rain was not very heavy in the suburbs, the morning started with light rain in Mumbai.

Strong winds are likely near the coast. The Meteorological Department has predicted that the intensity of rain on Monday will mostly be light to moderate, but the possibility of occasional heavy showers cannot be ruled out.

The Meteorological Department has predicted that the intensity of rain will increase from August 26. Therefore, citizens and the administration also need to take special care. Heavy rainfall is expected, especially in the Ghat regions of Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra, between August 26 and 28. The Meteorological Department has issued a 'Yellow Alert' for these areas.

Heavy rains last week caused flood-like conditions in many parts of the state, causing extensive loss of life and property. Although the rains coming now are less intense, the situation is likely to become more serious due to the currently saturated soil and the increased water levels in the rivers.

IMD has issued a yellow alert for Raigad and Ratnagiri, warning of heavy rain in some parts of Konkan.
