The torrential rains that had been falling since early Sunday morning subsided in the evening. Then, the rains started again around midnight. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) automatic rain gauge, more than 100 mm of rainfall was recorded at 14 places in the 24-hour period from 8 am on Sunday to 8 am on Monday. The highest rainfall of 142 mm was recorded at Tare Municipal School in Dahisar.
The intermittent rains that have been falling for the past few days increased in intensity from Saturday midnight. The intensity of the rains decreased on Sunday evening. More than 100 mm of rainfall was recorded at three places in Mumbai in a 10-hour period from 8 am to 6 pm on Sunday. Even though the rains had a break on Saturday morning, Mumbai was still lashed by heavy rains during the 24-hour period from 8 am on Sunday to 8 am on Monday.
The Meteorological Department's Santa Cruz center recorded 77.5 mm of rainfall, while the Colaba center recorded 101.2 mm. Also, according to the Municipal Corporation's automatic rain gauge, 74.85 mm of rainfall was recorded in the city, 99.44 mm in the western suburbs and 77.89 mm in the eastern suburbs. The highest rainfall in 24 hours, i.e. 142 mm, fell at Tare Municipal School in Dahisar in the western suburbs. This was followed by 141 mm of rainfall at Borivali Fire Station, 140 mm at Dindoshi Fire Station and 139 mm at Magathane Bus Depot.
Meanwhile, heavy rains also caused incidents of tree and tree branches falling in the city and both suburbs. There were two incidents of trees and tree branches falling in two places, one in the city and one in the western suburbs. Also, there were incidents of houses, walls, and parts of houses collapsing in 1 place in the city and 2 places in the eastern suburbs. After that, the Municipal Corporation informed the relevant departments and took up relief work. Meanwhile, a total of 11 short circuits occurred, 4 in the city, 3 in the eastern suburbs, and 4 in the western suburbs. Fortunately, no one was injured in these accidents.
