The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings of thunderstorms for the next five days across parts of Maharashtra. The Met Department has recorded thunderstorms in Nashik, Kolhapur, Pune, Mahabaleshwar, Solapur. Even on March 25, Mahabaleshwar saw moderate hailstorm.
The Deputy Director-General of Meteorology at IMD, KS Hosalikar mentioned that regions of Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra saw thunderstorms as well. He added that in some areas, grains like wheat, bajra, and jowar faced losses due to thunderstorms.
“Next five days thunderstorm warnings in Maharashtra. The next five days, the weather likely to be active in the state with TSRA, Lightning. D4 & D5 : 29, 30 March to be watched for severe weather, please. Pl Watch for updates & daily nowcast for likely severe weather warnings,” Hosalikar tweeted.

It is said that some light rain was reported in parts of Badlapur, Lonavala and Mumbai. The officials added that there’s a slight chance of rain in Mumbai, and citizens may notice cloud cover over the next few days.
On Thursday, Mumbai recorded its highest minimum temperature in 10 years. As per data recorded from the Santacruz weather station, minium temperature touched 26 degrees Celsius, which is reportedly 4 degrees higher than the usual minimum temperature in the area.
The observatory in Colaba observed a rise of 1.8 degrees in minimum temperature from normal. However, the forecast for cloud cover over the next few days should bring some respite to the locals.
