However, over the years, the people started bursting firecrackers as a part of the celebrations but with the introduction of hazardous firecrackers, adverse effects have been seen In one such incident where a 14-year-old from Thane lost his eye.

On Tuesday, Thane's Vinay Kene was having fun with his friend and celebrating the festival of lights by bursting crackers. However, he lost light in one of his eyes after a gravel hit his eye directly as a cracker burst near him. As the incident took place, Vinay was immediately admitted to J.J. Hospital.

After he was admitted to the hospital, the doctors immediately operated on him and the gravel was removed from his eye. However, the 14-year-old lost his eyesight in one eye.

The doctors have stated that although the gravel has been removed, the boy may never be able to see through one eye. They have also advised people to not let children engage with hazardous firecrackers without proper adult intervention.

Diwali is supposed to be a festival of happiness and while we celebrate it by any means, it is our duty that a moment of happiness does not turn out to be a tragedy for someone forever.
