Authorities have stepped up health surveillance at Mumbai and Delhi airports following the Ebola outbreak reported in several African countries. Precautionary measures have been intensified to prevent any possible spread of the virus into India through international travellers.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued guidelines to airlines operating flights connected to affected regions in Africa. Airlines have been instructed to remain alert for suspected cases during travel and follow emergency health protocols if passengers show symptoms associated with Ebola.
Health officials at major international airports have also been directed to strengthen passenger screening and monitoring procedures. Travellers arriving from or transiting through affected African nations are being closely observed as part of preventive measures.
The Union Health Ministry has advised citizens to avoid non-essential travel to countries where Ebola cases have been reported. Officials have clarified that no Ebola case linked to the current outbreak has been detected in India so far.
The move comes as several countries across the world increase airport surveillance and public health preparedness in response to the outbreak. Indian authorities have stated that they are continuously monitoring the situation and are prepared to take further action if required.
