ST depots await generic medicine shops

Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) was to set up medical stores at state transport bus depots. The announcement made by the state government in January 2017, but so far none of the depots have been fitted with generic medicine shops. 

Diwakar Raote, State transport Minister had at the time said the facility would help mainly middle class and those below the poverty line, since these form the bulk of passengers using ST buses, and generic medicines are not available to them easily. The new development was meant to boost the access to generic medicines.

When contacted, Raote stated that appointments are being made for the service and that, very soon,  generic medicine shops will be opened across the state. It was announced that the shops would be opened in six months, and that registered pharmacists would be appointed for the same.
